STEM Tech Final - Beat the Flood
Hayesbrook Key Stage 3 students narrowly miss out in an exciting challenge to design and build flood-resistant homes in the 'Beat the Flood' Final.
The boys demonstrated real commitment and team work in today’s final, but unfortunately were just pipped at the post by another school. It was a tough competition where they had to think of an innovative product that would be useful to victims or rescuers after a natural disaster. They then had to design their product, build a model of it and present it, all in 4 hours. The boys chose to create a jacket that helps to find people who may be trapped after an earthquake. I was hugely impressed by their excellent team work, calmness, good humour and skills using the different equipment available to them – including quite a bit of electrical wiring. They have really proven themselves to be an asset to the school.
