Meet the Team

Alexandra Weston - Director of School Sport Partnership

As the Director of the partnership I am responsible for the management and direction of the partnership and the programmes we offer. I look at different avenues and initiatives to give to our schools that complement their current priorities for development. I also look at offering unique activities to ensure that we can be creative and fun for children.

I have worked in sports development for 10 years and I have experience not only working, but also participating in grassroots, community, educational and elite sport and physical activity in the UK, USA and Canada.

I have a strong passion for the development and sustainability of Physical Education and School Sport and believe that the experience and teaching we provide to children mould and determine their perception of sport for the future. It is our duty to ensure that we provide the next generation with inspirational and high quality experiences and learning environments to give them the platform they require to succeed in social and physical education.

I continue to be a keen advocate of sport in my personal life and currently play football for Tunbridge Wells Foresters and owner of AWF Academy which only works with female athletes to enhance their elite football pathway.  I regularly attend the gym and I am a keen climber in the summer months and I have done this my entire life! In the winter you can find me on the slopes of the French Alps carving my way through the snow. I love extreme sports and the exhilaration it brings!

As School Games Organiser for the Tonbridge & West Kent Area my main responsibility is the management and delivery of a varied and inclusive School Games Programme. A huge part of the role is to create opportunities that motivate young people to lead healthy, active lifestyles. As Assistant Director of the TWKSSP my main role is to organise the team and deliver on the new initiatives and events that we create to enrich our offer to member of schools.

I strongly believe that physical activity and sport plays an important role in all young people’s lives; it teaches children important values such as teamwork, respect, honesty and above all the ability to lose and learn. Sport has the power to shape a person to be the best version of themselves and I am thrilled to be able to work for a School Sport Partnership that provides a range of exciting and interesting physical activity opportunities every day for young people in the Tonbridge & West Kent area.

In my personal life I am a keen hockey player and am currently captain of the Folkestone Optimist Ladies 1st XI. Playing sport regularly helps me to keep fit and gives me a real sense of enjoyment, it also motivates me to lead a healthy lifestyle. Sport is also a huge part of my social life and I enjoy socialising with my hockey club and friends.

I also enjoy travelling and have so far visited 27 countries! I aim to visit a new place every year to broaden and enrich my own personal experiences. I recently travelled to Canada and plan to go to South America in summer 2021!
