Family Learning: The Great Hayesbrook Bake Off 2016

On Tuesday 17th May, we hosted our first "Great Hayesbrook Bake Off" as part of our Family Learning initiative.

Students and their families attended to bake a cake of their choice. There was much variety of cakes produced on the evening. Mr Upton, Miss Higgins and Mr Tebbutt had the difficult job of judging thie finished products, rating the cakes on presentation, use of ingredients, team work and health & safety whilst in the kitchen.

The overall winner of the event was Conor Lee of Year 9. Describing his winning cake, Conor said: "My cake was a piñata cake. Chocolate, vanilla layers filled with M&M’s.  I covered it in milk chocolate butter icing and made chocolate drizzle. The top of the cake was covered in Maltesers and drizzled with even more chocolate. Chocolate Heaven!"

Mr Upton said: “The whole event was a big success, all students and their families produced some wonderfully decorated cakes that tasted scrumptious”.

There will be more cooking events in the future so please keep a an eye on our Family Learning pages (click here).
