Duke of Edinburgh Qualifying Expedition 2016

Congratulations to all the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award participants who successfully completed their qualifying expedition at the weekend.

Students had to walk up to 18 kilometres per day, carrying with them all their equipment including tents, trangia stoves, first aid kits, food and clothing.  The students have improved enormously from the practise expedition where many teams struggled, especially with the navigational aspect of the expedition.

Team Roadman (which included Jack Brennan, Jensen Moss, Matthew Davis, Charlie Egan, Rocco Jackson, Joe Bass and Leon Washington) went from completely lost on the practise expedition to being able to successfully navigate throughout the whole qualifying expedition.  All other groups made excellent progress and passed with flying colours!

The participants will be delivering assemblies the week after half term about their expedition project.  They will need to also ensure that they complete the other three sections of the award; skill, physical and volunteering so that they can achieve their award this September.

Students currently in Year 9 will be able to enrol for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award after half term by collecting an enrolment form from Mr Waight.
