Hayesbrook School Ski Trip 2016 to Austria: Report

For this year's annual Easter-holiday trip, The Hayesbrook School took 28 students to St Anton in Austria for an epic week of skiing.

We left school on Thursday 24th March 2016.  Students had been eagerly anticipating the trip after weeks of practise on the dry ski slopes in Chatham.  Due to heavy traffic on the M20 it meant we had to get the later ferry over to France. The outgoing trip passed quickly due to some highly entertaining DVDs.  After travelling through the night the boys were waken for a not so familiar Burger King breakfast.

We arrived at the resort where we had a great lunch of spaghetti bolognese.  After lunch we headed for ski fittings followed by a relaxing evening. Our accomodation was at a fantastic hotel with two bowling alleys in the basement, as well as having a sauna and its own gym area.

We skied for 5 days on a range of different runs in the St Anton area.  Although the runs were challenging in terms of steepness all students made really good progress and developed their skills.  Students throughout the week enjoyed a range of hot lunches in the nice restaurants on the piste.
We had a number of evening activities throughout the week, swimming, bowling, pizza and ice cream and a games night in the hotel.

“It’s fun, it’s good, it’s thrilling and a great opportunity to be sociable with friends. You get a major adrenaline rush. I have been for the last 3 years and have had an amazing time” - Jack Brennan, Year 10.

We will be launching next year’s ski trip in the coming weeks.  Anyone interested or needing more information should see Mr Waight, Mr Tebbutt or Mr Miller.
