Hayesbrook PTA Christmas Fair Fun Brings in Funds
On Saturday 21 November the PTA organised the first Christmas Fair at school for over 10 years and raised over £1,700 for the school.
A mixture of gift stalls, games, tombolas and food stalls meant that there was something for everyone. Even the weather helped create a festive feel to the event with the first snow of Winter falling on Tonbridge early in the morning. The chocolate tombola was the first stall to sell out (surprise, surprise!), closely followed by the bottle stall. The cake stall was well stocked with mouth-watering cakes, kindly made and donated by Team Ali members. Joss Athey in Yr 9 deserves a special mention for both his enterprise and artistic talent; he produced some wonderfully quirky caricatures, including one for Mr Day! Several external stall holders offered a range of lovely gifts for those in search of Christmas presents, and Mrs Bellord and her Coffee Shop team were on hand to keep everyone topped up with tea, coffee and mince pies. Two hardy dads braved the cold outside to man the barbeque, keeping a steady supply of hot dogs and burgers flowing.
The PTA would like to thank all the parents and students who donated items, bought raffle tickets and helped out at the Fair as well as all the staff, families and friends of the school who came along and supported the event.
Commenting on the event, Ann Harwood and Angela Childs, joint Chairs of the PTA said, "There was a lovely festive atmosphere in the hall all day and many parents and visitors commented on how enjoyable it was. We hope the Christmas Fair will become a regular fixture in the school calendar, raising festive spirits and funds for the school every year. We couldn’t have done it without the support of everyone at Hayesbrook. Now we just have to decide how to spend the money raised!"
A huge thanks to all the students, families and staff who supported the event.
