The Hayesbrook School

A Brook Learning Trust Academy

Football Report: Year 11 vs. Kemsdale Academy

Hayesbrook started well and were able to dominate the game against Kemsdale for the first few minutes. As the game progressed they were able to start to push forward for a goal.

The opposition’s keeper had the ball at the back and Charlie L pressed him very well. As a result of this the goal keeper panicked and kicked the ball out, but fortunately for Hayesbrook it hit one of Kemsdale's defenders and went straight in their goal! 1-0 Hayesbrook. For the rest of the first half, Hayesbrook kept the pressure up and were able to finish with a good performance, keeping a clean sheet through some great saves by Charlie W in goal, and some very good defending from the whole team.

The second half saw Hayesbrook came out ready to carry on where they left off.  We were under a little bit of pressure for about 10 minutes in the game and Charlie W made some more great saves to keep us in the game. After that we managed to get a foot back in the game and picked up the ball in the middle of the pack, with Charlie L having a great effort on goal but was denied by the goal keeper. However the goal keeper was unable to catch it, so it was up in the air and he was rooted to his spot.  Malachi comfortably headed the ball into the goal to make it 2-0 Hayesbrook. Shortly after this the final whistle went and Hayesbrook are through to the next round of the Kent County Cup.

Special mentions to the Manager, Mr Gore, for support and organising the team, and to Mr Upton for refereeing so well. Charlie L managed to get man of the match after his brilliant work rate, despite not scoring a goal and also his silky skills on the right wing in the second half.
