Careers Fair Shows Students University and Career Opportunities

The Hayesbrook School hosted a Careers Fair for all students as a prelude to 'National Apprenticeship Week' in March.

Many exhibitors were present including Canterbury Christchurch University, The University of Brighton, Sussex University, University of Kent, Barrington James, Pearson-Whiffin, Runway Training, Hadlow College, West Kent College, The British Army, Tonbridge Lions, Savills, NHS, United Living, JD Whetherspoons, Mainstream training, and Kent Training and Apprenticeships and Kent County Council.

The hall was packed throughout the event and the students received a real mixture of future career options from university pathways, apprenticeships and advice around making that first break into industry. Hundreds of pupils were able to spend time talking to the exhibitors in a market place layout and many were able to take resources including prospectuses away with them.

Event organiser and Assistant Principal Mr Reader said: "This is the second time that we have held a careers fair and it was positive to build upon the links that were established during the first event. We were delighted to welcome more universities this time and also recruitment agencies including a Sunday Times top 100 business. Several of the exhibitors have expressed an interest in supporting the students further and we look forward to inviting them back soon to the school. We would also like to express our thanks to the families of our students that supported the event. Finally, we would like to thank the exhibitors for visiting the school and for having such a positive impact on the pupils.”

The next careers events at the school will be for our sixth form students, with a visit to the Emirates Stadium in March and the Farnborough Airshow in July 2018.
