Lewis Church Represents Team GB in Madrid
Hayesbrook and School Sports Partnership staff member Lewis Church represented Team GB in the Combined Events International on 27-28 January.
This was Lewis’ first taste of a senior multi-events international and at 21 years old he was one of the youngest in the competition. Competing against the best from Spain, France, Poland and the Czech Republic, with three Olympians plus numerous other World and European championship competitors and medallists, Lewis finished 16th out of 20 competitors.
Reflecting on his experience, Lewis said: “I really enjoyed competing in this event for Team GB and I’m pleased with my performances - I managed to achieve three personal bests along the way and a new Tonbridge record in the indoor Heptathlon!”
His focus will now be on the outdoor British Championships in May, when he will be competing in the Decathlon and hoping to improve on his silver medal from 2016, slowly edging his way closer to the Olympic qualifier in the next 2 years.
