Soda and Science at 'Bread Ahead Bakery'

18 Food Technology students from Years 10 and 11 travelled to the Bread Ahead Bakery in Borough Market to take part in a soda bread workshop.

Students weighed and measured their ingredients to make soda bread and learnt the ‘science’ behind making the bread.  They finished off their loaves with a sprinkle of oats to add some extra texture.  It was really enjoyed by all – especially the tasting of the freshly baked soda bread with dollops of the bakery’s famous raspberry jam which is used for their doughnuts!

One student said "it was really great to make and taste top quality bread" and many of the them would like the opportunity to return.
