Hayesbrook Goes the Extra Mile to Beat Strike Action
A mini-bus ‘rail replacement’ service, for students unable to get to school during the ongoing Southern Rail strike, has been put into action.
With continued industrial action by Southern Rail severely disrupting the students’ journey from Edenbridge to Tonbridge, The Hayesbrook School has acted to minimise the impact by operating a mini-bus ‘rail replacement’ service for affected students. The morning service will start from Edenbridge Station at 8.00am, continuing to Chiddingstone Causeway and then Leigh, with a return service operating in the afternoon.
The school has received a positive response from parents, with one parent writing: "Thank you for organising the minibus during the strike. It will certainly make mornings much easier."
Hayesbrook Principal, Daniel Hatley said: "I am pleased that we can offer this service and hope that it will ease parents concern about their sons’ travel on the affected days. I have written to our local MP, Southern Rail and the Department for Education to formally express our concerns about the impact on our students, as have the students themselves."
