Careers and Employability focus on Curriculum Enhancement Day
On 14 December we set up each year group with various activities themed around careers and employability skills.
Some of the highlights from the day were the Year 10s looking at construction engineering and creating towers from old newspapers (pictured above); the winning team’s construction was 280cm tall!
The Year 9s were introduced to a former pupil Mr Caner Veli of Liquiproof, a local entrepreneur who appeared on BBC's 'Dragon’s Den' and now runs a very successful business.
In Year 11 we focussed on preparing for the next stage of their life with the English department holding mock interviews, completing application forms and CVs.
The Year 8s were looking at the different careers in science, including forensic scientist, sports scientist, car safety designer and Chemical engineering.
Finally the Year 7s worked in Design Technology, learning about the transferable skills and the career options available in ICT.
