Y12 Geographers get the 'Real' Experience at Coca-Cola
On 30 November our Year 12 Geographers were invited to visit Coca Cola Enterprises in Sidcup.
The reason for the visit was to see a working Coca Cola factory, it’s business portfolio and it’s place in a globalised world. The Real Experience is Coca-Cola European Partners' (CCEP) flagship education programme for secondary schools, colleges, and universities in Great Britain. The programme delivers 200 programmes a year and currently has a long waiting list so we were very fortunate to be able to visit.
After some very tight security we were invited to take part in a lecture about the company and how it links to the main Coca Cola brand, production in GB and links to other European countries. It was fascinating to find out that over 31 million drinks were made at the factory every year and up to 800 per minute. The pupils were able to put the lecture into observation as we were also lucky enough to walk above the production lines and could see where cans and bottles were turned into global products.
Assistant Principal Mr Reader said: "The visit provided an opportunity for the Year 12 pupils to experience a Transnational Corporation in action. This will provide them with first-hand experience to use for developing case studies for their work on globalisation as part of the new Edexcel A level".
