Using the Learning Resource Centre
Students are welcome to use the LRC before school, at morning break, during lunchtime and after school for private study or to read for pleasure.
During lesson time the LRC is open to Sixth Form students wishing to use the resources for their independent study. Staff also book the LRC for specific lessons throughout the curriculum.
KS3 students come into the LRC as part of their English lessons to encourage reading for pleasure and also to develop their library skills.
Students are able to borrow 3 resources from the LRC at one time, they have these for a period of 2 weeks after which time they can be renewed if there is no one else waiting for them.
Other LRC Initiatives
The school is participating in the South East Schools Themed Book Awards this academic year. A Book Club runs in the LRC on Thursday lunchtimes to enable students to participate in this. It involves reading books from either, the Young Adult or Teens category and subsequently voting for your favourite. The process culminates in an evening awards ceremony in March 2017. See Mrs Bolton or Miss MacDonald for more details.
Homework club runs after school in the LRC every day apart from Tuesdays.
