Practise Weekend (Bronze/Silver) - April 2016
Congratulations to over 60 Hayesbrook Duke of Edinburgh Bronze/Silver participants for completing their practise expedition this weekend.
There were two teams of silver participants who completed a 3 day expedition of camping for two nights, that begun in Ashdown Forest and finished at Crowborough Leisure Centre. These boys, having completed their bronze award last year, showed excellent navigational skills, team work and camp craft.
There were nine bronze teams who begun at Chuck Hatch Car Park near Hartfield and ended up at Adamswell Campsite on day 1 and back at Hayesbrook school at the end of the second day. The boys learnt a lot throughout the weekend, particularly in terms of navigation, and were resilient in the face of challenges. All participants and adult volunteers endured a very cold night with temperatures below freezing and waking up to a heavy frost on a beautiful morning.
We look forward to the assessment weekend for Bronze and Silver later in the season. Thanks to all the adult volunteers for their help and support this weekend without which the award could not continue.
