British Yorkshire Pudding Day

To celebrate British Yorkshire Pudding Day, we wanted to share with you, our tried and tested recipes - please see a vegan and non-vegan recipe below!

Ingredients

Method

  1. Place the flour and a little salt and freshly ground black pepper into a bowl. Add the eggs, mixing in with a whisk, then gradually pour in the milk, mixing slowly to prevent lumps forming.

  2. Cover the bowl with cling film and chill in the fridge overnight.

  3. Preheat the oven to 220C/425F/Gas 7.

  4. Put a little of the dripping in the holes of three non-stick Yorkshire pudding tins. Place the tins in the oven until smoking hot.

  5. Remove from the oven and quickly fill the moulds with the batter. Return to the oven and cook for 20-25 minutes.

  6. Turn the oven down to 190C/375F/Gas 5 and cook for a further 10 minutes to set the bottom of the puddings.

  7. Remove from the oven and serve.

Vegan Yorkshire Pudding Recipe

Ingredients

  • 8 Ounces
  • Self raising flour
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 Teaspoon
  • Lemon juice
  • 1/4 Liter
  • Vegan soy yogurt (unsweetened, plain)
  • 1/4 Litre Vegan soy milk (unsweetened)

Method

  1. All you have to do is just whisk everything together, maybe add a few extra drops (and I do mean DROPS) of soy milk just to make the batter a little runny. Then pour into the baking tray and pop into the oven!

  2. You'll want to cook these at about 350 Fahrenheit (180 C) for roughly 15 - 20 minutes. Keep an eye on them, though. Make sure they are nice and golden brown on top. They will start to rise a bit in the oven and then sink when you pull them out. The first time I made them, I pulled them out too early and the inside was still a bit gooey, so watch out for that. Everyone's oven is different, so my advice is to find out what cooking time works best for you and keep that in mind next time you make them.

  3. When they are done, let them cool for a bit and serve with some yummy vegan gravy! Deeeeeelicious!

If you're a Yorkie fan and will be whipping up a batch, we would love to see your creations!
