Valentine's Day Book Recommendations

Young Adult Romance book recommendations by Miss Kindregan

Books to Love

This Valentine’s Day why not try one of these adorable Young Adult romance books? The titles below are suitable for teens (and adults!) ages 14+.

Frankly in Love by David Yoon is about a Korean-American teen named Frank who feels like he is stuck between two worlds as his parents traditional expectations keep clashing with his life as a Californian teenager. When he develops feelings for a girl at school he faces a big dilemma because his parent’s one big rule is that he must only date Korean girls. This book not only has a great fake-dating to romance story, but also includes topics like identity, racism, and complex family relationships.

Simon vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli, adapted into a film titled Love, Simon, is about a teenage boy who is blackmailed after someone discovers his romantic emails written to anonymous classmate. This books is an emotional rollercoaster, with lots of ups and downs, but ultimately has a happy ending.

Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist by David Levithan and Rachel Cohn is a hilarious adventure set in New York City. It all starts when Nick asks Norah, a complete stranger, to pretend to be his girlfriend for 5 minutes to avoid his ex. A great coming-of-age story for teens, with lots of pop culture references, angst, and humour.

Let us know if you have read any of the above, or if you have any romantic recommendations! Happy Valentine's Day!
