Ensuring that students have the skills necessary for working life is a priority at Hayesbrook. In their fifth year at school all students are required to undertake one week of work experience. While they are there they are encouraged to identify the personal learning and thinking skills that will help them to be successful in working life.
Independent enquirer - work out what questions to ask to solve a problem.
Creative thinker - come up with ideas and possibilities
Reflective Learner – notice when I or others do things well- learn from experiences
Team Worker – work with others to get things done
Self Manager – being flexible when given more than one thing to do or when things change
Effective participator –– discuss things that cause concern, suggest ways things can be improved, influence others to get a good outcome
This year work experience week was in October. Many local firms participated. Our students were given hands on experience in a wide variety of businesses.
