From July 2009 Key stage 3 will be condensed and the final year will be altered to include more cross curricular learning. From July Year 9 will study a cross humanities curriculum focusing on topic matter such as East vs West, Project Africa, Will it Work and Out of this World. During this transitional phase some of the topics will be taught to more than one year group however at no time will pupils repeat previous learning.

Department Summary

The Humanities department is a faculty comprising of the following subjects:- History, Geography, Philosophy and Religion, Philosophy and Ethics, Citizenship, Environmental Science and Travel and Tourism. The department offers courses through all key stages both academic and vocational.

The aims of the department are to enable young people to gain knowledge and understanding of human experience in time, place and society. To enable young people the opportunity to understand the relationships and interdependence of people locally, nationally and internationally
