Department Overview

The Business department at Hayesbrook aims to give students an insight into the business and how it works. This includes role play, visits to different businesses, case studies and outside speakers. All unit scenarios are based on what is happening in the world of business and work.
Key Stage 3
From Year 9 students have 2 lessons a fortnight giving them an overall introduction to the world of business. Some of the areas include new business ideas and Dragon's Den style presentations.
Key Stage 4

The BTEC First Certificate Business (equivalent to 2 GCSE grades A* - C) offers the opportunity for students to understand various aspects of business covering Business Activity, Customer Service and Finance. Some students will study a further three units leading to a BTEC First Diploma (equivalent to 4 GCSE grades A* - C).
Key Stage 5
The BTEC National Award (equivalent to 1 A Level A - E) and Certificate (equivalent to 2 A Levels A - E) offers the opportunity for students to understand the various aspects of business in more depth. Some of the units studied include Marketing, Business Communication, Business Ethics and Recruitment and Selection.
