The Hayesbrook School

Parents and Teachers Association

Welcome from the Hayesbrook PTA Committee!

The Hayesbrook PTA raise funds for the benefit of the school and its pupils, and provide an informal way to meet other parents.

During the last school year we’ve been able to buy several laptops for student services; a belt sander for the tech department, equipment including a cooker for the food tech room, radio walkie talkies for those working towards their Duke of Edinburgh award, new sports equipment, text books and other resources for lessons to name just a few.  Without our fund raising, these learning resources would not have been available for the students.

If you are interested in becoming involved with the PTA, please contact Ann Harwood (Co-Chair) by sending an email to Any help you are able to offer would be greatly appreciated.

Membership and committee

All parents are members of the PTA and are welcome to attend meetings and suggest ways to help the school. We meet at least once a term, more if there are planned events on the horizon, at 5.30pm but this time is flexible depending upon the committee at the time. Typically a meeting involves an update on the PTA funds available, ways to spend them, and ways to raise more money.  If attending meetings is not something that you relish, don’t worry, you can join in many other ways as it’s not all about turning up for meetings, it’s about supporting events by volunteering your time to help run a stall; sending in donations for events and of course attending those events.

Our regular committee is a mixture of parents with boys in most years, and staff.

Events and Achievements

The Autumn Term is rather a busy one for the PTA, with numerous events to organise, details of these are below.

Friday 16th September: Primary School Football Festival
Primary schools from our catchment area have been invited to enter teams in a 5 aside football tournament to see first-hand what it’s like to part of a Hayesbrook team.

Friday 7th October: PTA in conjunction with the World Challenge Team Quiz Night.
Pit your wits against fellow parents, pupils and staff in the race to win the first prize, or try to at least win the ever faithful wooden spoon.  Join us on the night for fish and chips, a raffle, games and loads of fun.

Saturday 3rd December: Christmas Fair
Join us for a traditional fair with a raffle £100 cash as first prize; tombola’s; gift stalls; BBQ and of course an ever popular cake stall.

In the past there has been a successful entertainment evening, a quiz night, a car boot sale, the popular Christmas Fair, a Zumbathon, and funds generated by selling on new unused redundant sports equipment. Recent fundraising efforts have supported the purchase of new equipment for Food Technology as well as for the PE, Art, Geography and Science departments.  Previous expenditure was to help to rejuvenate the school’s cross country team by buying the boys quality school-branded athletics vests, which proved a hit at county and national athletic meetings.

How can I get involved?
