Illya Freeman (T3)

The month of May has been a golden one for 13 year old champion gymnast Illya Freeman, who attends The Hayesbrook School.

Illya, with his gymnastics partner Sammi Nassman, achieved Gold at the Inter Regionals earlier in the month. They followed this success up with a flawless performance in the National NDP finals in Stoke on Trent on the 15 May to clinch the title of British Champions Mens Pair, in their grade.

Illya said "The hard work was worth it. And to see the expression on Sammi's face when we were told we had got gold, was brilliant."

Proud mother, Stephanie Freeman, added "Their coach, Chris Rogers at NDGA, seems to bring out the best in them. We are very proud of them both, they work very hard for their sport and it is lovely to see them getting the results they deserve."

Hayesbrook Principal David Day remarked "Illya's gymnastics are going from  strength to strength. Given our sports specialism we are proud of having a National champion in our ranks."
