Years 7, 8 & 9 Cricket teams trip to Nevill Cricket Ground: Report

The Year 7, 8 and 9 Hayesbrook cricket teams were treated to a glorious day of cricket on Monday 18 July.

In scorching conditions the boys made their way to the Nevill cricket ground in Tunbridge Wells to see the second day of the test match between Sussex and Kent.  A rival match, although most of the students were supporting Kent.

We arrived for the 11am start with Kent on 310 runs for the loss of 3 wickets.  We stayed for the morning and afternoon sessions but saw plenty of runs and wickets to entertain us.  By the end of the day Kent were bowled out for 575 with their number 4, Northeast, scoring an impressive 190 runs.

The Hayesbrook students bought programmes and spent much of the morning session lingering around by the team dugouts, searching for players to get their autographs on their programmes and cricket balls. The boys came back with big smiles on their faces having got all of Sussex’s players autographs and some of the Kent players too.

Ice creams were bought, the Hayesbrook boys got autographs and overall everyone had a great day at the cricket, seeing some big hits and wickets!
