Year 7 Trip to Battle Abbey and Bodium Castle: Report

On 7th June, 30 Year 7 students travelled to Battle Abbey to see first-hand the site of the Battle of Hastings and hear all about the events of 1066.

The students got to wear some of the armour of the time and handle equipment such bows, shields and swords. They even took part in a mock battle between the Normans and the Saxons! It was then on to Bodiam castle to learn about castles and piece together what life in a medieval castle would have been like from the archaeology that still remains.

Ben, a Year 7 student, said: "I enjoyed the trip because we re-enacted parts of the battle of Hastings. It was very fun and exciting. If you get the chance you have to go!"
