Sports report: Tennis - Year 8 and Year 10 vs. Bennett

Both Year 8s and 10s had their first tennis fixture of the season against Bennett Memorial School.

For the Year 10 team, the boys have improved massively and Sam Lewis who was seeded number 2 for this week, played an excellent game to comfortably beat his opponent 6-1.

Oli Wilson who was playing a year up and seeded number one, got off to a great start, marching into a 5-1 lead. However his opponent found some form just in time and managed to pull the set back to 6-6 and ended up narrowly beating Oli in the tiebreak to win the set. It was a great game of tennis and Oli will be looking for revenge in the return fixture!

Theo Smith and Connah Crisp also put in great displays but ended up just losing their respected sets, although the matches were much tighter than the scores suggest. Oli and Sam then went onto win their doubles 6-4, with Theo and Conna just missing out 6-3.

For the Year 8s it was a great experience and were up against some very talented players. Ben Barnett played a great match but just lost his match 6-4. Toby Moss and James Curry (who was playing a year up) had a very close doubles game which ended in Hayesbrook losing 6-4.

All of the boys put in a great effort and will look to win more games in the next fixture!
