Sports report: Cricket - Year 9 vs. Bennett and Skinners'

The Year 9 cricket team have played two league fixtures in the past week, against Bennett Memorial and Skinners' School.

17 May 2016: Hayesbrook vs. Bennett Memorial

Hayesbrook played Bennett Memorial in a cricket match at home and it was an exciting two hours of cricket  which finished in a 38-40 win for the visitors.  We won the coin toss and decided to bat first with a total of 38 runs off 12 overs.  Opening batsmen where Gautum Juneja and Harry Routh. Gautum stayed 8 overs, gaining Hayesbrook 15 runs before handing the bat to the next person.  There was some excellent bowling from Aiden Jones who took 2 wickets with his first 2 balls in the over and went on to take a 3rd at the end of his over.

Special thanks to those boys who filled in at the last minute so that game could go ahead: Owen Harrington and Adam McDougall.

24 May 2016: Hayesbrook vs. Skinners’ School

Hayesbrook played Skinners’ School in a cricket match at home and it was an exciting game that finished in a 82-86 win for the visitors.

We won the coin toss and batted first with a total of 82 runs off 12 overs.  Opening batsmen where Gautum Juneja and Harry Routh.  Gautum stayed for 12 overs, gaining Hayesbrook 18 runs off the bat. Aiden Jones also racked up several 4s while in bat before being caught out.  There was some excellent bowling from  Charlie Wellard and from Paimaan Mohammad who took 2 wickets with his last 2 balls of the over and sent a batsman for a golden duck!
