The Hayesbrook School

Sports report: Tennis - Years 8 & 10 vs. Skinners

The Hayesbrook Year 8s and 10s were up against some very talented players from Skinners’ School in this week's tennis fixtures.

All players played a doubles match and a singles match against players of similar rankings. Unfortunately for Hayesbrook, Skinners’ managed to win all of the doubles matches.

In the singles, James Curry was unfortunate to lose 6 - 2. The scoreline doesn’t reflect how close the match was.  Oli Smith, playing against a player in the year above, went to deuce in every game but couldn’t quite manage to get a game during the set.

Oli Wilson produced a fine display of tennis to beat a player with an LTA ranking of 8.2. After a close start Oli started moving his opponent across the court and began to dominate the rallies. A few parents were there to watch the match and were very impressed with both players. In the end Oli managed to win 6 - 3.

As this was the first fixture of the season, the boys should be proud of their efforts and hope for more wins in 2 weeks’ time when they play their next match.
