Sports report: Football - Year 10 vs. Hugh Christie

The Hayesbrook Year 10 football squad defeated rivals Hugh Christie on Thursday to become deserved West Kent Champions 2016!

The Year 10 fixture was the first of the day and Hayesbrook were up against a tough Hugh Christie side.  In warm conditions the boys started slowly and didn’t create many clear chances going forward. The back 4 kept things tight at the back throughout the first half.

Hayesbrook started the second half on the front foot, putting Hugh Christie under pressure straight from kick off.  Eventually they got the goal their play deserved, with the impressive Lee Chapman seeing his shot deflect past the goalkeeper.  Lee deserves to claim the goal due to his great effort levels.  Much of our attacking threat started with Chapman driving at the defence.  The back four, marshalled by Harrison  Mayhew, were fantastic throughout, limiting Hugh Christie’s attempts to long range efforts, with Callum Goater having very few saves to make.  Tom Ryan was having a lot of joy going forward from right back and from one of his passes forward, Hayesbrook got the second goal to kill the game. Dillon Hickmott brought the ball down with his chest, holding off the defender, then turning on the edge of the box and firing an unstoppable left foot shot into the top corner.

The boys having only conceded three goals all season and winning all but one of the games deserve to be West Kent Champions!

Final Score: Hayesbrook 2 - 0 Hugh Christie
