The Hayesbrook School

Sports report: Football - Year 9 vs. St. Gregorys

In very windy conditions the Year 9’s beat St Gregs 2-1 at Longsmead on Tuesday 5th May.

This result means the team have gone unbeaten for the season, only conceding 3 goals and scoring 39, which is an incredible achievement. Dillon Hickmott put Hayesbrook in front half way through the 1st half with a cool finish after being put through by Rob Lawrence, who had a great game in centre midfield. Lee Chapman supported Rob very well in the middle and was full of energy throughout, winning most of his aerial battles.

1-0 at half time, Hayesbrook were deserving of the lead. However, the team didn’t start the 2nd half well at all and found themselves 1-1 after a mix up at the back. The boys didn’t drop their heads and kept pushing forward with Dan Vitler a constant threat down the left wing. The goal finally came through Fred Johns, with a composed finish from close range. Harrison Mayhew and Edd Rugg dealt with everything that was thrown at them and were solid throughout. Harrison came up to lift the trophy, which ends another great season for the team, who will look to go again next season.

Well done boys!
