The Hayesbrook School

Can you manage a day without accessing social media online?

The Hayesbrook School is joining hundreds of other organisations across the UK in celebrating Safer Internet Day.

To celebrate the day, The Hayesbrook School is setting a challenge for every pupil and member of staff. We'd also like to invite other family members to take part as well. The challenge is simple, can we manage a day without accessing social media online? Can you and your family last a whole day without Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram and other social media technologies? We would like you to share your stories with us and look forward to receiving your emails (the next day) to let us know how you manage to get on?

Safer Internet Day 2016 is on Tuesday 9th February 2016 with the theme ‘Play your part for a better internet’, offering the opportunity to focus on both the creative and positive things that children and young people are doing online, as well as the role that we all play in helping to create a better internet.

The UK Safer Internet Centre is a partnership of three leading charitable organisations; Childnet International, the South West Grid for Learning (SWGfL) and the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF). These organisations are committed to working to make a safer and better internet. All partners recognise the unparalleled opportunities the internet offers and actively encourage its positive use for social, leisure, economic and educational advancement. The partners all work to make the Internet a great and safe place for children. The UK Safer Internet Centre is online at http://www.saferinternet.org.uk./

The Hayesbrook School is committed to promoting 'online safety' and details of some resources to support understanding of the internet can be located here on our website.

We really hope that you join us in this challenge and that it promotes some dialogue among us all about how important the internet is but also how much we rely on it.
