"Ready, Steady, Cook!" Family learning event report

On an evening of wonderful aromas, the first family learning event of the new academic year commenced.

All pupils showed a great team spirit to produce one main meal and a dessert, on a £10 budget. Throughout the evening there was a wide range of skills on show. The four categories the event was judged on were; presentation, use of ingredients, teamwork and health and safety. There were some mouth-watering dishes cooked including salmon parcels and coconut rice, pork and bean casserole. In addition scrumptious desserts were produced, such as apple crumble to lemon pudding. All students produced dishes full of flavour, which teased the taste buds.

   

After students had used their hour and half cooking time, Miss Higgins and Mr Upton had the difficult task of judging. 2nd place went to Ryan Cottee, who had produced a gluten free beef pie and a warm winter crumble. Finally, there could only be one winner, Lewis Nicholson, who produced a delicious garlic chicken with potato and prosciutto, finished off with an Oreo cheesecake.  A huge well done to all involved in the evening. Thank you also to Miss Higgins and Mrs Bellord for their support on evening.
