Sports report: Football - Year 10 vs. Bennett & Homewood

After two match wins last week, the Year 10’s football team came into this week's fixtures full of confidence.

Tuesday 29th September
Scoring an impressive 8 goals and keeping a cleansheet, the boys continued their 100% record this season. Fred Johns and Dillon Hickmott were constant threats to the Bennett defence and worked superbly together throughout. Fred came away being the hattrick hero and Dillon also scored a brace. The consistent Rob Lawrence chipped in with a further 2 goals and captain, Harrison Mayhew scored his first goal for the school team to round off the goals. A well done to Callum Goater for keeping a clean sheet aswell.

Final score: Hayesbrook 8-0 Bennett

Thursday 1st October

After one days’ rest, the Year 10’s were back out playing, this time in the cup. They knew that Homewood would be more challenging opponents and missing key players, Rob Lawrence and Dillon Hickmott, the boys knew they would have to be at their best. After an even first half, Hayesbrook couldn’t quite capitalise on having the wind behind them and came in at 0-0. Homewood started the 2nd half brightly and went ahead deservedly 10 minutes in. Hayesbrook couldn’t get the ball out of their own half with the wind conditions worsening. Callum Goater then gave away a penalty, but dusted himself down a produced a fine save to keep his team in the game. The squad worked tirelessly right to the end but unfortunately couldn’t quite find a way past the Homewood backline and eventually lost 1-0. The boys already have a chance to bounce back on Monday in the league where they face Knole at home!

Final score: Hayesbrook 0-1 Homewood
