The Hayesbrook School

Sports Report: Football - Year 7 vs. Mascalls

Our new Year 7 football team played their first match for the school on Thursday evening, against close rivals Mascalls Academy.

In perfect conditions, Hayesbrook kicked off and started well with Hayden and Louie creating a few early half chances, but didn’t truly test the Mascalls ‘keeper. Hayesbrook then experienced a mad 10 minutes where they conceded 3 goals. They responded well by putting the Mascalls back line under pressure towards the end of the first half.

Hayesbrook started the second half well. Owen Bromby scored an incredible goal that flew into the top corner, giving the goalkeeper no chance. The boys had belief. Unfortunately Mascalls then went down the other end and scored the killer goal to end any comeback. Jack Scott then won a penalty. He brushed himself down and took the penalty himself and placed it into the bottom left corner. However it was too late. Special mentions go to Owen Bromby for his goal. Mason and Aston kept the side in it with some solid defending. Jack Scott played some excellent passes and was strong in midfield. The boys will look to bounce back next week against Knole Academy.
