Sports report: Mixed Athletics

The Year 7-10 athletics team travelled to Bennett on a glorious Wednesday afternoon. We were slightly short of the 16 we could take to the fixture, but still had a strong 10.

Some of the stand out performances are summed up below:

Harvey Fordham came 2nd in his 100m sprint event with a time of 14.0 seconds. A special mention as he also ran in the Year 10 (3 years above!) 4x100m relay race and did very well in his leg!

Tom Powell took part in a number of events including long jump, where he achieved an impressive 4.35m, javelin and shot putt. Luke Macro came 1st in the Year 10 javelin event with another massive throw of 27.40m. Toby Harwood also took part in the shot putt (4th) and javelin.

Lewis Overy, who is rarely able to make such events but made himself available to selection and performed brilliantly, coming 2nd in both the 100m and 200m sprint events. Lewis also ran a year up in the Year 10 4x100m relay and started the team off very strongly.

Noah Washington can feel hard done by, coming 2nd in the javelin with a huge 27.62m. He also came 5th in 200m sprint. Noah also ran a year up in the Year 10 4x100m relay and did well in his tough leg round the bend.

Rabin Pun took part in a number of events including shot putt (7.40m) coming 2nd, 800m also coming 2nd, 1500m, and high jump (1.15m). David Crouch did very well in the javelin, coming 3rd with his personal best of 24m!

George Smith ran his 100m in 11.9 seconds, which is an incredible personal best for him. He helped Hayesbrook out by competing and coming 2nd in the 300m sprint. George had the final leg of the 4x100m Year 10 relay, bringing the team home in 2nd.

Finlay Garrigan-Twyford also took part in different events, including high jump (1.15m), throwing 15m in the javelin, 800m coming 1st in an impressive time of 2.39 and also coming 2nd in the shot putt!

Well done to all the boys who took part, they all put in a huge effort!
