The Year 10 regulars of Kieron Skinner and Luke Macro were paired together. Dan Smith and James Curry in Year 9, were played up a year and were paired together.

In blustery conditions, we started the fixture with the doubles matches. Luke and Kieron started well but eventually lost 6-1 to Knole’s top seeds. James and Dan played against Knole’s 3rd seed and David Crouch from Hayesbrook who stepped in to fill the fixture as Knole could only bring three players. It was a very close match with the scoreline at 5-4, but the match was conceded 6-0 to Hayesbrook.

For the singles matches, Kieron did well to get a game against Knole’s top seed, but lost 6-1. Luke Macro’s match went on slightly longer. Luke managed to get two games, but lost 6-2. Knole conceded the singles match that was due to be against Dan Smith as they could not field a player. James Curry played a very close match and came out as the winner, with the rubber finishing 6-3. The match was played with some excellent rallies and James deserved the win.

In difficult conditions and as it was the first fixture of the season, the boys did very well and in the end, tied the fixture. Next game is against is against Cranbrook in 2 weeks’ time. Well done boys.
