Sports report: Basketball - Year 8 vs. Skinners School

Hayesbrook's Year 8 basketballers played the West Kent Basketball League final on the afternoon of Tuesday 28 February, at Skinners School.

The boys knew it would be a very difficult game, but started well by taking a 4-2 lead early on. In a very open game, there were plenty of baskets scored for both teams. At the start of the 2nd quarter, Skinners started to gather momentum and were more accurate with their attacks.

The game finished 40-24. Roman Brophy, Tom Powell and Henry Whysall were Hayesbrook’s scorers in the match. Henry and Roman were constant threats on the offense. Toby Harwood was also excellent on the defence, competing for rebounds with Skinners tallest player!

The team will be disappointed to lose the final, but have had a fantastic first season, winning every game up to yesterday’s final. They will look to go one step further next year!

Hayesbrook’s team: Paimann Mohamad, Joe Rowe, Sam Rugg, Jack Stone, Roman Brophy, Tom Powell, Toby Harwood and Henry Whysall.

Well done boys!

Final score: Hayesbrook 24 - 40 Skinners School
