Sports report: Basketball - Year 10 vs. Knole Academy

With a slightly depleted squad, the Year 10s travelled to Knole Academy on Monday evening for one of their last basketball matches of the season.

The first quarter did not go to plan and Hayesbrook quickly found themselves 18-0 down. During the second quarter the boys got their first points on the board, but were still struggling to cope with the main threat from Knole.

The second half started better; Knole lost their fith player and were playing a man down, which gave Hayesbrook more time on the ball and space to attack. Olli Holloway scored an excellent 3 pointer along with another 2 points to contribute. Joe Hill scored 2 points and Joe Francis scored 6 points, with Sam Babayale scoring an impressive 10 points. Sam competed very well at both ends of the court, winning rebounds when attacking and defending, including an excellent block on Knole’s best player.

The boys can be pleased with the spirit they showed throughout the match and competed well in the second half. They will look to take this on into their last game next week. Well done boys!

Final score: Knole Academy 44 - 23 Hayesbrook
