Sports Report: Football - Year 7 vs. Hugh Christie

The Year 7 football team faced local rivals Hugh Christie Technology College in a challenging away match on Thursday 12 October.

On a pitch that was tough to play on, Hayesbrook started brightly but conceded halfway through the first half. On the long grass, Hayesbrook struggled to pass the ball but Owen Bromby was making some marauding runs down the right hand side, but the final pass was letting us down. The score at half-time was 1-0.

The boys had plenty of possession in the first half but found it difficult to keep that up in the second and conceded a goal that no keeper could save. Towards the end of the game, as Hayesbrook were flooding players forward in search of a goal, Hugh Christie put the game to bed with a third goal. Bradley made some good saves to keep the score respectable. Owen Bromby showed promise down the wing. Mason O’Connor was a rock at the back.

There is no rest for the Year 7s as they face Charles Darwin away next week, looking for that first win of the season!
