Sports Report: Football - Year 7 vs. Knole Academy

The Year 7s played their second league match of the season at home to Knole Academy on the afternoon of Thursday 28 September.

After a strong training session the night before, the boys came into the game confident of improving their performance from last week. They knew it would be a tough game against a side known for playing good football. Hayesbrook started the game without the injured Jack Scott, but started positively, creating a few half chances and were dealing with the quick passing moves of the opposition. Unfortunately, Knole scored a freak goal halfway through the first half - the ball was crossed in and deceived everyone, flying into the top corner. Hayesbrook then conceded a goal in the final stages of the first half to make it 2-0 at half time.

The second half performance from Hayesbrook was absolutely superb. Bradley Hillyer stepped into goal to replace the injured Harry.  The boys defended resolutely and can be proud of their efforts. Special mentions go to Aston Tremain and Mason O’Connor, who put their bodies on the line to stop Knole scoring any more. Bradley was also immense in goal, making some fine saves and showing good distribution. The final score was 2-0 to Knole, but the boys can take the positives into next week’s cup game on Tuesday!
