Sports report: Football - Year 8 vs. Mascalls

On Tuesday 8th November, the Year 8 football team travelled away from home to play against a tough side from Mascalls Academy.

The team started brightly, with lots of chances created by Fynley Rutherford and Josh Tobin, within the first 10 minutes of the match. Hayesbrook took the lead after 15 minutes with a Tom Powell goal, through some great link up play between Zach Collier, Josh Tobin and Ben Hermitage.

The central defensive pairing of Sam Rugg and Jack Stone was solid for the entire first half, allowing Zach, Ben and Harvey Tongue to press forwards and build attack after attack – but the half ended with Hayesbrook only ahead by one goal. Mascalls equalled early in the second half, but the team's heads didn't drop, and they continued to press and cause Mascalls problems in every area of the pitch. Some fantastic play, and composed finishing from Fynley opened the flood gates for Hayesbrook. Fin went on to net a very attractive Hat-trick. Josh Tobin contributed well, beating defenders for fun, and netting 2 goals in quick succession. Ben Greenstock took his first goal for the team very well, and Tom Powell put another in the back of the net, just before the full time whistle.

Final Score: Hayesbrook 8 - 3 Mascalls
